Is Caucasian Skin Different than the Skin of African Americans?

You bet it is and no, I’m not a racist. In fact, dermatologists are being encouraged to understand the skin composition of different races and ethnicities in order to effectively treat people of color.

The medical training in this country has been based, for the most part, on treating caucasians and the diseases and conditions that are prevalent among caucasians. However, just like sickle cell anemia occurs more frequently in people who originate from sub-Saharan Africa, there are conditions that are more prevalent in non-Caucasians. Once you know this, you also have to understand how to treat the disease.

This article in USA Today talks about how dermatologists are understanding how to treat the skin of non-caucasians.
